Recall Board Game

Recall Rules Gist

In Recall you play as, well I am not exactly sure, but it has something to do with those who have come before you and the legacy you leave for those who come after. Recall is the same design team that brought you Revive and is published in the US by Pegasus Spiele.

At the start of the game players will draft a tribe and a gadget. Both will give you a unique ability and some tribes an on going ability. These abilities are free actions that require you to use an ability stone, more on that later. Your player board is where most of the action happens. There, you have 6 sections with various actions that can be activated with a key card. On your turn, you take a key card, slot it into an upgradable section, and do all the actions in the section and on your upgradeable keycard. These sections have a combination of the following actions:

Move: There are move actions that move your followers around the main board in various ways. If you move onto a hex with a relicube you must remove one of your followers and collect the cube. These cubes help you get resources or move up one of the three faction tracks. Moving up these tracks, gets you end game points, resources, new gadgets and access to new tribe abilities.

Follwers: this action let you put followers on the map where you presence.

Develop: there are several things you can do with the develop actions. It lets you build. Constructing a building, gets you resources, points, end game points, upgrades, unlocks income, brand new key cards, and so much more. Some hexes have ability stone. You can use a develop action, to lose a follower and collect a stone. These stones also move you up the faction tracks, but more importantly gives you another stone to activate your abilities. The majority of your actions, will involve some type of develop.

Reveal: this action lets you reveal more of the game board, gets you points, and lets you arrange the new space as you want.

If you don’t have any more key cards to use you have to take the Recall action. This lets you get your keycards back opening the sections to be reactivated. The recall actions also lets you get income and collect your abilities stones for future use

On the side of the main board are 3 segments with two end game scoring cards. As the game progresses there will be a time where you must choose which end game scoring you want to score. Also as the game progresses at one point you will have to choose which of the 2 hidden objective card you want score.

The game is played over 17 rounds (13 normal keycard playing rounds and 4 special rounds where end game scoring are chosen). At the end of the 17 rounds, who ever has the most points wins.

Now this was the gistest of gists. There is so much more to this game, but I think you have a taste of what is going on. Now I recall we have some other pegs soo….. let hear what they have to say about our Recall review.
