Beer List (edited from the episode for time, but a bonus for our show note readers)
For fans of Twilight Struggle:
1) drink a tried and true Russian brew, while Russia is not known for its beer, this one is actually pretty tasty, Baltika #6, a robust porter with a thick foam, fruity hints, and a spicy finish, though there are better Russian beers, this is one of the better ones that you can get outside of Europe
2) since Twilight Struggle is the long standing leader of the pack when it comes to BGG rankings, why not try Russian River Brewing Company’s Pliny the Elder, named “America’s Best Beer” for the 7th Year in a row, this beer is a flavorful IPA with smooth hints of citrus and a strong, though manageable finish
For fans of Terra Mystica:
When playing a game that features the magical terra-forming of a mystical realm you should really enjoy a beer with an earthy feel with magical undertones, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company’s Smoked Porter seems a great fit, it has notes of smoked wood and roasted malt, though unlike other smoked porters it won’t overpower the palate, overall sweet taste with hints of dark chocolate and a little coffee bitterness
For fans of Pandemic-Legacy:
If you are trying to save the world from disease you may want to treat yourself to flavors that soothe and heal, namely honey and ginger, while ginger flavored beers often overpower the palette and honey based beers are better consumed in moderation, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery’s Gingerbread Stout is a beer that features these flavors, but which can be consumed throughout the night, an imperial milk stout brewed with vanilla beans, cinnamon, fresh baby ginger and wildflower honey, this beer is a relaxing seasonal blend of spicy flavors nestled in a rich, chocolaty stout
