  1. Something seems to be up w/ the link for this episode. When I download from a web browser or from the feeds on my WP device, I get a 700K file. Through my Zune software, I got the full file (138MB?). I’ve tried several different methods to download the file and just tried from Firefox – got a 700K file there, too. Is the link pointing to the wrong file?

    1. I did not have the same problem, but I have made some revisions and added a link to the bottom of the page to take you to a page where you can access the attachment page and the streaming file, directly. Let me know if that helps.

    1. Seems to be fixed in the RSS now. Of course, that’s cached in my app so I’ll have to figure out how to reset that at some point. I also noticed that this file is 103MB as opposed to the prior 130-140MB. I actually had managed to copy that out of my computer’s podcast cache, upload it to OneDrive, then download to my phone (trying to avoid digging up a cable) so I did get it working before. I just noticed that whatever file was linked to in the RSS was the wrong one or something was cutting off downloads way too early. 🙂
I appreciate you looking into it and getting it fixed.
From what I’ve heard so far, I’m quite blessed that I don’t know anyone who would suggest we play Cards Against Humanity even in jest. 🙂

      1. I will look at the file size and see if it signifies anything. Not to get to inside baseball on you but it looks like the problem has to do with constant vs. variable bit rate streaming. It seems that android devices do not like constant bit rate. That said, it does look like our hosting sight may be truncating our eps randomly. It is very odd and I can not figure out why this is happening. I can tell you, if you want to learn a lot about this stuff publish a podcast. You will end up learning more about things you never thought you would care about pretty fast. Again thanks for letting us know about this. May be changing our podcast hosting soon. It looks like we may have outgrown this solution and need to upgrade to something a little more robust.

        1. I actually did set up the podcast site for our church. It wasn’t too bad as someone had written an extension making it easier, but it still has its challenges. I never did figure out how to get the notes to display properly. Any attempt to add them at one point resulted in a poorly formatted XML stream. I think we gave up at that point and just let the main content be the MP3 file. We also had some issues with bitrates and trying to get our files into something reasonably sized for 45 minutes or so. Our sound tech eventually hit on a good balance there. I feel your pain. I think you can set up things like AWS or MS Azure storage solutions pretty cheaply and that could be an option for you in the future. There’s some cool stuff going on in those spaces.

  2. Thanks for those tips. This actually is my second podcast (but my first where listenership was as large and diverse as it is for BPPP) and I am still learning new things all the time. Being an amateur makes it hard, but very rewarding. So glad you enjoy the show. (You do enjoy the show, right :)) We are made so much better by our community and I really appreciate the feedback.

  3. Hey, guys. This still shows up as a 4-second audio clip in iTunes and on the link provided at the top of this post. Also, that steaming link doesn’t produce any audio for me. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Among The Stars. Thanks!
